Orange - Breaking the Bubble
A supper club designed to disrupt the routine and help Londoners meet new people beyond their usual circles.
Problem
London’s social scene was becoming predictable.
After living in London for eight years, I noticed a pattern—social calendars filled with the same events, the same faces, all planned months in advance. Friends shared similar frustrations, and with loneliness rising in the capital, there was an opportunity to shake things up.
Solution
A supper club designed to break routine and bring new people together.
Orange is an events concept built around meaningful connections. Each guest is invited through social channels and brings a +1, expanding the network organically. The result? A room of 50 people sharing a meal, great conversation, and new perspectives—breaking bread while breaking out of their usual social circles.
My role
I founded Orange in the summer of 2020, just after COVID-19, and have led its growth from idea to execution. My responsibilities include:
Experience Design – Applying user-centred design to craft an inviting, seamless event experience.
Branding & Operations – Managing everything from visual identity to supplier partnerships (chefs, venues, drinks, and photography).
Hosting & Community Building – Ensuring guests feel welcomed, conversations flow, and the atmosphere is engaging.
Logistics & Communications – Handling invitations, payments, and community engagement via WhatsApp and social channels.
What I learnt
User-centred design goes beyond digital – I applied the Double Diamond design process to the supper club, using research, experience mapping, and iterative improvements to shape a better event experience.
Collaboration is essential – My first event was a solo effort, and I quickly learned the challenges of running everything alone—food going cold, feeling stretched too thin, and missing out on meaningful conversations. Bringing on a partner with complementary skills transformed the experience.
